3 Intentional Sustainability Decisions in my Brand

Right now I’m guessing you are either a curious customer or a fellow small business entrepreneur wanting to know a little bit about my journey in creating Rebecca Paper Designs. Full disclosure, I am certainly no expert. Along the way I’ve learned a thing here and a thing there.

While there are always easier, cheaper ways to do things in my business, there are some INTENTIONAL decisions that I’ve made. Those are what I will share with you!

1. 100% Recycled Paper

After a long time of searching, I found a local printing company that printed on textured paper that is 100% recycled. With so many people looking for environmentally friendly alternatives, I wanted to proudly be able to say that my product is made of recycled paper.

Finding somewhere local to do the bulk of my printing AND a company that offered recycled papers were 2 top priorities. I’m so glad I stuck out the gruelling hours of research on the back end. It has paid off ever since I found them!

2. Custom Washi Tape

Once I started selling my cards in store and at markets, I could not find an an affordable alternative to plastic sleeves.

Cue the day when my washi tape collection was staring me in the face and it finally dawned on me. Why not use washi tape to keep my card and envelope together?

Washi tape is sticky but peels off easily so the card does not get damaged. I searched for washi tape options, found noissue.ca and designed a pattern incorporating my logo’s flowers. Their washi tape is even compostable because it’s made from rice paper and soy inks!

3. Custom Paper Stickers

In a wave of vinyl sticker popularity, it was HARD to find paper stickers. But I knew it was paper stickers that I wanted to seal my envelopes that I mail orders in. Initially I was searching specifically for Kraft paper stickers and that’s how I ended up finding stickercanada.com. Since then, I’ve also tried their matte paper stickers which are the cutest final touch for my envelopes!

With these logo stickers, my customers know exactly what package just arrived right from the get-go. These stickers in particular make a simple yet GREAT first impression without creating more plastic waste!
